At nine years old, Khalid is autistic and has devoted much of his inner world to the marvel of flight — the mechanics, the routes, the sounds, the logic of how something so large can rise into the sky. His knowledge is the product of deep, genuine fascination.

His dream was always the same: to be a pilot. To sit in the cockpit, to hold the controls, to be the person at the front of the plane.

Omnia partnered with Kuwait Airways to give Khalid his day. He was welcomed by the crew, walked through the aircraft, and sat in the cockpit of a real plane. The pilots spoke to him as an equal — asking him questions, letting him take in every detail at his own pace.

In that seat, Khalid wasn’t a nine-year-old with autism. He was a pilot in the making — and everyone in that cockpit knew it.
