Floward, the go-to online flowers and gifts delivery destination in the Middle East and the United Kingdom, has announced its collaboration with Tadweer, a leading Saudi company specializing in organic waste management and compost production, as part of its corporate responsibility strategy to become a more environmentally friendly company. Under this partnership, Floward will be donating its organic waste produced in its Eastern Province location in KSA to Tadweer, which will compost the waste and transform it into organic fertilizers to be used in agricultural lands and nurseries.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at Floward’s offices in Riyadh in the presence of Chief Operating Officer of Floward, Mr. Mohammed Al Arifi, and Chief Executive Officer of Tadweer, Mr. Hisham Al Jabr.
On average, Floward generates between 1.5 to 2 tonnes of organic waste per month in the Eastern Province, which will be donated to Tadweer for recycling instead of disposal. This partnership will produce approximately 0.3-0.4 cubic meters of compost per month, underscoring Floward’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and supporting local agriculture and sustainable farming practices. By recycling organic materials, the partnership will help reduce dependency on synthetic fertilizers, promoting healthier and more sustainable crop production. Additionally, the compost generated from this process aids in carbon sequestration, helping to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels and contributing to climate change mitigation efforts.
Through this initiative, Floward reaffirms its commitment to adopting better environmental practices to become a more sustainable and eco-friendlier company. The announcement of this partnership coincides with Floward’s recent admission into the Ministry of Economy and Planning’s ESG Champions Program in Saudi Arabia, further reinforcing its commitment to implementing best practices in environmental, social, and governance standards.
Chairman and CEO of Floward, Mr. Abdulaziz B. Al Loughani, said: “We are proud to launch this partnership with Tadweer, which aligns with our sustainability strategy across all countries we operate in. Our awareness of the environmental impact of our activities drives us to continually seek innovative solutions, and we are keen to expand the scope of such partnerships to include other organizations, enabling us to create a greater positive impact on our communities and environment.”
CEO of Tadweer, Mr. Hisham Al Jabr said: “We are pleased at Tadweer to sign this agreement with Floward, which reflects our shared commitment to environmental preservation and promoting sustainability. Through this collaboration, we will receive and recycle damaged flowers at the company’s factory in Dammam to produce organic compost, contributing to reducing environmental waste and lowering carbon emissions. We look forward to expanding this cooperation in the future to include the rest of the cities in the Kingdom.” Established in 2017, Floward is a full-fledged e-commerce solution that offers prime fresh-cut flowers sourced from the best growers and farmers around the world and arranged locally by a team of florists and designers.
